Welcome to WINSENT
Wales Ireland Network for Social Entrepreneurship

The WINSENT Project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Ireland Wales Programme (INTERREG 4A)

“What business entrepreneurs are to the economy; social entrepreneurs are to social change. They are the driven, creative individuals who question the status quo, exploit new opportunities, refuse to give up, and remake the world for the better.” – David Bornstein

Social entrepreneurs set out to change society using business skills and knowledge. They prove that tackling social and environmental issues using a business framework can work and that it is okay to aim for financial success. Sustainable ideas and ideals can make the difference between a social enterprise that provides a much needed community service and one that can continue to do so long after the grants have run out.

A social entrepreneur will be able to enthuse and activate the local community, inspire and involve them, challenge the leaders and officials that need to get involved to have more social responsibility and to embrace new ways of delivering services.

We aim to find the social entrepreneurs, to harness their skills and knowledge and let others benefit from them. We aim to help those active in social enterprises to recognise if they are indeed social entrepreneurs themselves. We also aim to help them grow further and become ambassadors for social entrepreneurship.

WINSENT is an ambitious project to promote social entrepreneurship in Ireland and North Wales.

WINSENT provides a networking opportunity and free assistance, guidance and a range of supports to any social entrepreneur or social enterprise based in Dublin and surrounds in Ireland or based in North Wales in the counties of Denbighshire and the Isle of Anglesey. There will be opportunities to network with other like minded “change agents” through WINSENT Network

Please do our quick test below to identify if you are a social entrepreneur.

  • Do you have a business idea with a social ethos?
  • Have you identified a social problem and want to fix it?
  • Are you possessed by your ideas, committing your life to changing direction in your field?
  • Are you a person with a vision and determination to persist in the face of daunting odds?
  • Do you seek to generate “social value” rather than profits?
  • Are you driven to produce measurable impact by opening up new pathways for the marginalised and disadvantaged and unlocking society’s full potential to effect social change?

If you have answered yes to any of the above, please contact us to see how we can help you.

The social entrepreneurship approach is taken by leaders and innovators who see new opportunities to bring about social change and work with others, in an entrepreneurial way, to make it happen. Applying this approach to existing and new community based projects will broaden them in a new and dynamic fashion resulting in increased social impact.
